[Update 06/04/2026]
ABOUT THE POSITION
In the context of Vietnam's securities market developing increasingly in depth, the demand for specialized sector analysis linked to portfolio management advisory is becoming a core competitive advantage. VNDirect is seeking a Head of Sector Analysis Team with a solid analytical foundation to lead the Real Estate – Construction – Building Materials sector team, while having the ability to convert investment theses into concrete wealth advisory solutions for high-net-worth and ultra-high-net-worth (HNW/UHNW) institutional and individual clients. This is not simply a report-writing position — this is the role of an investment advisory expert, someone who can communicate effectively with clients and portfolio managers to jointly make asset allocation decisions.
JOB DESCRIPTION
1. In-Depth Sector Analysis Management
- Directly manage 3-5 analysts, build and maintain universe coverage of 15–20 companies in the residential real estate, construction or banking finance groups
- Develop complex valuation models: NAV, DCF, SOTP, Residual Income – ensuring rolling updates with each earnings season and material events.
- Build in-depth thematic research: real estate cycles, legal impact, new-generation industrial park FDI, green building material supply chains.
- Monitor closely related macroeconomic factors: real estate credit, interest rates, exchange rates, planning policies, land law developments.
2. Application of Analysis to Wealth Management Advisory
- Convert reports into actionable investment thesis advisory: build recommended portfolios including stock selection, weightings, price targets, based on risk appetite of each client group.
- Coordinate with Wealth Advisors and Portfolio Managers to personalize portfolios by objective: capital appreciation, dividend income, inflation hedging, or indirect real estate cycle exposure through equities.
- Directly participate in client advisory meetings with HNW/UHNW clients: present sector theses, analyze scenarios, answer in-depth questions on risks and valuation.
- Build investment playbooks by cycle stage: stratify opportunities by upside/downside risk, recovery timeline and specific catalysts.
3. Knowledge Management & Professional Leadership
- Guide and review work of junior analysts in the sector team; ensure consistency in methodology and output quality.
- Build internal knowledge base on the sector: standardize analysis frameworks, model templates, monitoring metrics (leading indicators) by sub-sector.
- Act as internal thought leader: organize regular knowledge-sharing sessions, update market views for Sales and Wealth teams.
4. AI Application & Enhanced Analytical Productivity
- Integrate AI tools (Claude, ChatGPT, Copilot) into workflows: read and synthesize financial reports, analyze sector news sentiment, automate periodic model updates.
- Apply Python/SQL to build automated data pipelines: collect real estate transaction data, construction permits, material prices, market absorption capacity.
- Design sector analysis dashboards serving both internal research and Wealth client presentations.
- Use AI responsibly in investment advisory context: verify outputs, separate quantitative analysis from qualitative judgment, comply with professional standards.
CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS
1. Education/Certifications
- Bachelor's degree with Distinction or higher: Finance, Economics, Accounting, Construction Engineering or related fields.
- Preferred: CFA Level II or above, Master's in Finance/Economics, CIIA, or international portfolio management certifications (CAIA, FRM).
2. Work Experience
- Minimum 5 years investment analysis experience, of which at least 3 years dedicated to Real Estate, Construction or Building Materials sector analysis at securities companies, investment funds, asset management companies or, preferably, with practical industry experience in Real Estate, Construction and Building Materials.
- Experience with direct client advisory or portfolio management processes - not just pure report production.
- Proficient in building complex valuation models and presenting coherent, persuasive investment cases.
- Deep understanding of Vietnam's real estate market: land law, credit cycles, developer behavior, supply-demand dynamics by segment.
3. Professional Knowledge/Competencies/Skills
- Investment storytelling skills: transform complex data into clear narratives suited to each audience - from individual clients to fund CIOs.
- Proficient in Excel/VBA; high priority for candidates with Python or SQL knowledge.
- Substantively AI-ready: experience applying at least 1-2 AI tools to daily analytical work, not just theory.
- Confident presentation skills, ability to handle pushback and manage client expectations in volatile markets.
- Risk-aware mindset: always link investment theses with downside analysis, scenarios and thesis invalidation conditions.

- Qualities and mindset aligned with the company's core values.
