Membership Terms

1. The short version

• You pay in advance, every 3 months or every year. Membership renews automatically until you cancel.
• You can cancel at any time. You keep access until the end of the period you paid for.
• Changed your mind? Email us within 14 days of your first payment or of a renewal, and we refund that payment in full.
• Treat members with respect and keep what is shared in OV inside OV.
• Questions about billing? Email hello@overseasvietnamese.com before you contact your bank.

2. What membership includes

Membership gives you access to the OV member app, city chapters and their gatherings, online sessions, Coffee Chats introductions, the Library of past sessions and other programs we run for members.

We improve OV over time, so programs and features can change. While you have paid for a period, you keep access to the member app, the community of members and your city chapter. If we stop a major part of membership, you can cancel and we refund the unused part of your period.

Some things cost extra, such as tickets to the OV Summit and some events. We tell you the price before you pay. OV Ventures and courses are separate and have their own terms.

Your membership is personal. Do not share your login or give anyone else access.

3. Joining

OV is invite-only. To join, you must be at least 18 years old, apply, receive an offer from us and pay. The information you give us must be accurate. We may withdraw an offer before you pay.

4. Price and payment

• The price and billing period, every 3 months or every year, are shown before you pay. Prices are in US dollars. Taxes are added where the law requires.
• You pay in advance for each billing period. Payments are processed by Stripe. Your bank statement shows "OVERSEAS VIETNAMESE".
• If you have a special or discounted price, it stays the same when you renew unless we tell you otherwise.
• If we change your price, we email you at least 30 days before. The new price applies from your next renewal, and you can cancel before then.

5. Automatic renewal

Your membership renews automatically at the end of each billing period, for the same length and at the same price unless we told you of a change. On the renewal date we charge the payment method on file. This continues until you cancel.

Every payment is confirmed by email.

If a payment fails, we try again over the following days. If it still fails, we may pause your access until it is paid.

6. Cancelling

You can cancel at any time in the member app, in the billing section of your account, or by emailing hello@overseasvietnamese.com.

Cancelling stops the next renewal. You keep access until the end of the period you already paid for. To avoid the next charge, cancel before your renewal date.

Cancelling does not refund the current period by itself. Section 7 explains when we refund.

7. Refunds

• New members. If membership is not for you, email us within 14 days of your first payment and we refund it in full.
• Renewals. If you forgot to cancel, email us within 14 days of the renewal charge and we refund it in full.
• When we refund a payment, the membership period it paid for ends.
• After 14 days, payments are not refundable, except where these terms say so or the law requires it.
• Refunds go back to the payment method you used. Your bank may take 5 to 10 days to show them.

If you are a consumer in the EU or UK, these 14 days also serve as your right to cancel a purchase made online. You agree that membership starts as soon as you pay.

8. Billing questions and disputes

If a charge looks wrong, email hello@overseasvietnamese.com first. We correct any billing error straight away. This is faster than a dispute through your bank, which can take months.

If you dispute a charge you authorised, we may pause your membership while the dispute is open. To respond, we share the relevant records with Stripe and your bank: your acceptance of these terms, your payments and receipts, your cancellation, if any, and your activity in the member app.

Nothing in this section limits your rights under the law or with your bank.

9. Community rules

OV works because members trust each other. Our principles are: back each other, my network is your network, only upwards, and trust is the foundation. In practice:

• Treat members with respect. No harassment, discrimination, hate speech or threats.
• Keep what is shared in OV inside OV. Do not share posts, messages, screenshots, member details or session content outside OV without permission.
• Do not copy, export or collect member information, including names, profiles and contact details, for marketing, sales lists, recruiting databases, AI training or any use outside OV.
• No spam, mass messages or unsolicited selling. Promote your business or jobs only where we allow it.
• Do not ask members to invest or promote financial products to them unless we allow it and the law permits it.
• Do not record sessions or gatherings without permission.
• Be yourself. Keep your profile accurate and use your own name and photo.
• Do not post anything unlawful, or content that belongs to someone else without their permission.

10. If rules are broken

Depending on what happened, we may give a warning, remove content, suspend your access or end your membership. If a breach is serious, such as harassment or collecting member data, we may end your membership straight away, without a refund.

If you think we got it wrong, email hello@overseasvietnamese.com and we will look at it again.

If we end your membership for any other reason, we refund the unused part of your current period.

11. What you post

What you post in OV stays yours. You allow us to host it and show it to members in the member app. We ask before we use your posts, story or photo outside the app.

12. Gatherings, photos and recordings

• Gatherings are organised by OV or by City Leads, who are volunteer members, not OV employees.
• You are responsible for your own conduct, safety, belongings and costs at gatherings, such as food, drinks and travel, unless we say otherwise. Venues and other third parties are responsible for their own services.
• We may take photos and video at gatherings and share them in the member app and on OV channels. If you do not want to appear, tell the organiser or email us, and we will remove photos of you on request.
• Some online sessions are recorded for the Library. We say so at the start of the session.

13. Introductions and advice

Members share views, advice and opportunities in their own name. OV does not check them and is not responsible for them. We cannot promise any particular result from membership, such as a job, a deal or an investment.

14. Liability

As far as the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, for loss of profit, data or opportunity, or for what other members do. Our total liability to you in connection with membership is limited to the fees you paid in the 12 months before the claim.

Nothing in these terms limits liability that the law does not allow us to limit, such as for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud, and nothing takes away your rights as a consumer under the law where you live.

15. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. For changes that matter to you, we email you at least 30 days before they apply. If you do not agree, you can cancel before then and we refund the unused part of your current period. If you keep your membership after that date, the new terms apply.

16. Members who joined before these terms

If you were already a member when these terms were first published, they apply from 30 days after we tell you about them in the member app or by email. Your current price stays the same.

17. Law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of Singapore, and the courts of Singapore decide any dispute about them. If you are a consumer living in another country, you keep the protection of your local laws and may also bring a claim in your local courts.

If any part of these terms cannot be enforced, the rest still applies. We may transfer this agreement to a company that takes over OV. You may not transfer your membership to someone else.
