Database Administrator (DBA) – Operations
Position Overview
Responsible for operating, maintaining and ensuring the availability and integrity of the entire production database system serving the VikkiMe application.
Main Responsibilities
- Operate and monitor production database systems (PostgreSQL, DynamoDB, Redis).
- Perform periodic backup/restore and verify the integrity of backup data.
- Optimize query/database performance (indexing, query tuning) when performance issues are detected.
- Manage database access permissions according to security policies and the principle of least privilege.
- Conduct Disaster Recovery (DR drill) exercises for the database system on a regular schedule.
- Handle database-related incidents: deadlock, connection pool exhaustion, storage capacity shortage.
- Coordinate with the development team on schema change requests, ensuring changes do not impact operations.
- Monitor storage usage and plan database capacity planning.
- Ensure compliance with data residency regulations and PCI DSS security standards.
Skills & Experience Requirements
- 4–6 years of experience as a DBA in large-scale production environments.
- Proficient in PostgreSQL (tuning, backup/restore, replication).
- Experience with SQL databases (PostgreSQL), NoSQL (DynamoDB) and caching (Redis/Memcached).
- Knowledge/experience with Synology NAS, dataSync.
- Strong understanding of backup/restore strategies and Disaster Recovery.
- Skills in handling database performance issues under time pressure.
