Professor and business coach

“Nobody should have to figure it all out alone.”

Meet Cathy.

Cathy is a college professor teaching business, management and entrepreneurship, and a coach for entrepreneurs. Cathy grew up in Huế, went to college in Saigon, moved to the US in 2001 and has called Texas home for 20 years. Cathy leads OV Dallas to give others the community that was not there in 2001.

What do you do, and where did you grow up?
I'm a college professor teaching business, management, and entrepreneurship, as well as a business coach and consultant helping entrepreneurs grow and succeed.
I grew up in Huế, attended college in Sài Gòn, and moved to the U.S. in 2001. After four years in Southern California, I made Texas my home, where I've lived for the past 20 years.
Why do you lead OV in your city?
When I immigrated to the U.S. in 2001, I didn't have a community like OV. I had to figure out so much on my own, from finding jobs and navigating finances to dealing with layoffs, self-doubt, and life's unexpected challenges.
I lead OV Dallas because I want others to have what I didn't: a supportive community where we can share experiences, open doors for one another, build meaningful friendships, and succeed together. Nobody should have to figure it all out alone.
One place in your city every Vietnamese visitor should know
Asian Times Square in Grand Prairie! It's a vibrant hub for our Asian community, with a huge Asian grocery store, incredible Vietnamese and Asian restaurants, and cultural festivals throughout the year. It's a little taste of home right here in Texas!
